League Rules

Kickball/Soccer Baseball

  1. Official Game = 7 innings or 1 hour 30 minutes.
  2. Min. number of players on the field = 7; Max. number of players on the field = 9 (excluding pitcher).
  3. In the case of a shortened game (e.g. bad weather) the game counts as long as 4 innings were played. If the home team is winning in the bottom of the 4th when play is stopped, then the game still counts.
  4. Games that are cancelled due to foul weather will be attempted to be re-scheduled, but we cannot guarantee it.
  5. If the home team is winning after the top of the 7th, the game is over. Teams may play for fun for the bottom of the 7th but in terms of reporting the score, it is reported as the score at the top of the 7th.
  6. Teams must have a minimum of 3 players of each gender on the field at all times. Teams may decide to waive minimum player requirements if both teams agree. If both teams agree to play, IT COUNTS.
  7. If the game does not begin 15 minutes after the scheduled start time due to lack of players from one team then the other team wins the game by default.
  8. There must be a minimum of 1 woman kicking for every 2 men (even if a woman kicks twice in the same order).
  9. 6 run maximum per inning, no maximum in 7th inning.
  10. No stealing or lead-offs - on a kick and miss, no more than one step is allowed.
  11. No sliding under any circumstances.
  12. Team captains should flip a coin to determine which team takes the field first.
  13. The team at bat should provide a first base and third base umpire to call outs. In addition, the catcher should call fair/foul balls as they have the best view. The pitcher is responsible for calling outs at 2nd base and home plate.
  14. Same team pitches to their own players. A maximum of 3 pitches per kicker.
  15. No bunting. A ball must go past the pitcher in order to be counted as live.
  16. The pitcher must position themselves 10 paces from home plate.
  17. If a kicked ball hits the pitcher, it is counted as a strike. The only exception is on the third strike. A kicker cannot strike out by hitting pitcher.
  18. The pitcher must under hand roll the ball to the kicker. The pitcher CANNOT sidearm or overhand roll the ball when delivering the ball to the kicker.
  19. A kick made by the knee or above will be a dead ball and count as a strike. The heel of the kicker’s plant foot may not be in front of home plate when kicking. If they step in front of home plate the kick will be a dead ball and count as a strike.
  20. Kickers can get out by a fielder catching a pop fly, touching the base with the ball on a force play or getting hit with the ball below the neck.
  21. Kickers who are hit above the neck with a ball will be given a base. A head shot results in a deadball, meaning runners may no longer advance unless more than half way to the next base which they are then awarded.
  22. There can only be four players defending in the infield (1st baseman, 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman and Shortstop). Any rovers must play in the outfield, and cannot enter the infield until the ball has been hit.
  23. To avoid collisions, runners must tag the safety base at first base, and cannot touch the home plate (runners must run past home plate). To get a runner out at home plate, the catcher must have the ball and one foot on home plate before the runner crosses the extended line passing from the 1st base line past home plate.
  24. Fielders cannot block the base path from oncoming runners. If a fielder is in the base path and not making a play on the ball, the runner will automatically be rewarded the next base.
  25. A commitment line must be marked halfway between 3rd base and home plate. Once the base runner has passed the line he or she must continue on to home.
  26. Remember the point of the game is to have fun. If there are any questions as to the rules, please work them out between the team captains in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
  27. There is absolutely no tolerance for rough or abusive play. Any players exhibiting these characteristics will be reprimanded and may be asked to leave the league.
  28. Pinch runners and courtesy runners are allowed in our leagues. However, they must be the last person to get out of the same gender.
  29. If a team is short a female player (2 vs. 3 females), when the space for the missing female comes up in the batting line up, it will be counted as an out.
  30. Games must be played with 8.5” designated kickball.
