Ultimate frisbee is a combination of several sports (football, basketball and soccer), but played with a disc. Ultimate frisbee league games are played on a field with two end zones (similar to football...only smaller). A team tries to advance the disc by passing the disc to teammates towards catching the disc in the end zone. When a player catches the disc, he/she is not permitted to move with the disc other than to pivot (similar to basketball once your dribble is picked up). If the disc hits the ground (bad throw, dropped pass or knocked down by the defence), it is a turnover. The opposing team starts to advance the disc in the other direction attempting to catch the disc in the other end zone. The continuous action makes for a great way to get active.
The rules of the game and the spirit of those playing make the Average Joe Sports Club ultimate league in Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga and Hamilton a really fun way to learn a great sport.
