About Burlington and Oakville Ultimate Frisbee Leagues at Average Joe Sports Club
Average Joe Sports Club ultimate frisbee league in Burlington and Oakville is a great introduction to the sport. Ultimate Frisbee is a relatively new sport that has grown in popularity. It is widely credited as being created in 1968. There are many players/teams that play the sport for the first time. It is an easy sport to learn. Most people that try it then grow to love it very quickly.Average Joe Sports Club plays a 5-on-5 co-ed variant of the game (as opposed to the official 7-on-7 format) in the Burlington and Oakville area. This means that each player will handle the disc more which speeds up the learning. The ultimate frisbee league plays outdoors in the spring and summer.
Ultimate frisbee is a combination of several sports (football, basketball and soccer), but played with a disc. Ultimate frisbee league games are played on a field with two end zones (similar to football...only smaller). A team tries to advance the disc by passing the disc to teammates towards catching the disc in the end zone. When a player catches the disc, he/she is not permitted to move with the disc other than to pivot (similar to basketball once your dribble is picked up). If the disc hits the ground (bad throw, dropped pass or knocked down by the defence), it is a turnover. The opposing team starts to advance the disc in the other direction attempting to catch the disc in the other end zone. The continuous action makes for a great way to get active.
The rules of the game and the spirit of those playing make the Average Joe Sports Club ultimate league in Burlington and Oakville a really fun way to learn a great sport.
