About Burlington and Oakville Soccer Leagues at Average Joe Sports Club
Whether called soccer, football or just the “beautiful game”, soccer is the most popular sport in the world. It has always been popular as a youth sport, but adult soccer is growing in the Burlington and Oakville area and our soccer leagues are proving to be quite popular.For our soccer leagues, Average Joe Sports Club runs a variant of the traditional rules. Our outdoor soccer league (played in the spring and summer seasons) is a co-ed 6-on-6 league which is played on smaller fields with portable 6-foot pop up nets and no goalie. It is in the spirit of pick up soccer in the park. Each team must have at least 2 females on the field at all times. Playing with 6 per side means everyone touches the ball more often and playing without a goalie opens up the scoring for all players.
Our indoor soccer league is a co-ed 4-on-4 league played in local Burlington and Oakville gyms. We use an indoor ball and all walls are in bounds. We use the same 6-foot pop up nets that are used in the outdoor league.
In both the indoor and outdoor leagues, we get a great mix of players who are either new to the sport (or just coming back to it after many years) and some experienced players that are sick of the competitive, overly aggressive male or female adult leagues. Our Burlington and Oakville soccer leagues are a great way to get active, meet people and have some fun.
